I’m confused about the number of sessions not sure what is the best approach as I have seen many retreats do two sessions usually the first session small dose then the second one is higher dose
But honestly i dont what is the best approach. I come from Kuwait and can stay a week in Amsterdam. Can we do two session is that one week or do I better come back after a month or two?
Your confusion is understandable. When you look online, many retreats present a “two sessions in one week” structure (often a lower dose first and a higher dose later), and it can feel like that must be the optimal formula.
Let’s slow this down and look at what’s actually best for people and especially newcomers to the field.
First: There is no universal “correct” formula
The idea of:
Session 1 → small dose
Session 2 → higher dose
is not inherently wrong.
But it’s also not inherently better.
Sometimes that structure is:
Clinically intentional
Sometimes logistically convenient
And sometimes simply a retreat model that packages “more sessions” into one stay. This is a marketing trick making you belief there is more value and you spend a bit more money than really needed.
More sessions in a week does not automatically mean better therapeutic outcome and can be even work less good than one real good psychedelic session.
As a first-timer, what matters most?
Three things:
Safety and stability
Depth of the first experience
Integration
Most beginners underestimate how intense one properly guided session can be. A full therapeutic dose can already open very deep material.
About your situation (1 week in Amsterdam)
You have two realistic options:
This is the most conservative and neurologically clean approach:
One well-prepared, properly guided session
2–3 days afterward for rest and integration
Fly home stable
Then:
Integrate for 1–2 months
Return later if a second deep session feels truly needed
This is often the most sustainable long-term path.
This can work, but only under specific conditions:
The first session goes smoothly
No destabilization
The second session is adjusted for tolerance
You have structured integration between them
Keep in mind:
Tolerance usually needs about 7 days to reset (sometimes 2 weeks)
The second session may feel slightly less deep unless adjusted
It is more demanding emotionally and neurologically
For someone new, this is doable, but not necessary.
What we recommend for you
Since you are:
New to psilocybin
Traveling internationally
Staying only one week
Our grounded recommendation would be:
Do one proper session during your stay.
Give yourself several days afterward in Amsterdam to rest and integrate.
Then go home stable.
After 1–2 months, if you feel that a second session would deepen or complete something, you can return with intention rather than urgency.
One deep, well-supported session is often more powerful than two rushed ones.
When would I suggest two in your week?
Only if:
You are psychologically stable
You have a very specific therapeutic goal
You understand this will be emotionally intensive
You accept that the second session may be different in character
But again: it is not required for effectiveness.
A perspective that may help you decide
If you’re unsure, that often means:
Your nervous system prefers a paced approach.
Transformation is not about compressing as much as possible into 7 days.
It’s about depth, stability, and integration.
